“If it comes here, it’s game over” – Daily Maverick, 25th March 2020
The sobering headline of an article about our home, Kayamandi, reflecting on how Covid-19 is perceived and understood.

“Social distancing is a privilege. It means you live in a house large enough to practise it. Hand washing is a privilege too. It means you have access to running water. Hand sanitisers are a privilege. It means you have money to buy them.”
We do not know what lies ahead, and life is not normal. Our centre is being used as an essential services distribution centre. We have put up posters and are educating people. We are handing out soap, washable face masks, gloves, and food.
More people than ever before are coming to our centre for help and this is bound to continue in the economic contraction which accompanies this pandemic.
Many people have been retrenched and don’t have any savings or any kind of safety net.
At Love to Give, our staff are prepared, educated and serving the poor as never before. We are so grateful to you, our donors, supporters and partners. Some of you have supported us since we started in 2005, some more recently. Some of you have already sent special once-off donations to assist in this crisis.
Love to Give’s motto is “A Caring Community”. Thank you for reading this, for caring deeply, for your financial support and for being part of our community. |
